Yam
The yam is a root vegetable with a pale brown to dark brown skin. The flesh is white to yellowish in colour, high in starch and tastes sweet. Several types of yam are not suitable for consumption raw. They should be cooked properly (fried, mashed or baked) before being eaten. We import the puna and white varieties. The difference between the two is that the white yam is shorter and has whiter flesh than the puna variety. The yam is a root vegetable with a pale brown to dark brown skin.
